2021 has been an incredible success for Irish Sheepdog Trials. Our Irish Team was selected at the National last August, in Killarney Co. Kerry. a team of 15 handlers and their dogs were selected from the 150 dogs entered in the Irish National.

Past and Present Champions

Ireland also sent over two Brace competitors and a handler to compete in the International Young Handler competition

in 2021, the Irish Team performed extraordinary well, with Tom Sullivan and his bitch North Hill Tess securing the title of International Supreme Champion in the final on Sunday. Peter Morgan secured a very close second place to secure the title of Reserve Supreme Champion 2021. Shortly after competing in the final, Peter and his dog, Mossee went on to compete in the International Driving Championship, which they went on to win and secure a second title. the International made 2021 become a particularly prolific year for his family as he had secured the title of National Champion in Ireland in August but yet there was still more to come. Peter’s 13year old son, Peter Og, was to go on and win The International Young Handlers Competition for himself, his family and for Ireland as well!

in the Interest of fairness and integrity, the International has 4 appointed judges from each of the four represented countries of Ireland, England, Scotland and the host country for 2021, Wales. We were fortunate in that we had a man with plenty of experience of judging and competing. Con McGarry from Roscommon has past experience of successful competing in Nationals, Internationals and World Trails. Con has been a National Champion in the past in both the single dog competitions and the Brace. he has placed high in finals at the Internationals and World Trials. he has a wide experience of judging, both Naionally and Internationally. He was a great asset for Ireland to have in the judges box in 2021 too.
